Which repository is official?

The upstream repository is storytold/photocraft on GitHub ↗. Check both the owner and project name. An identical project name under a different account does not establish the same publisher.

The ArtCraft PhotoCraft product page and this repository identify the upstream editor. PhotoCraft.club is a separate site and does not maintain the upstream source.

Source code or a ready-to-run release?

Repository files are source code. Most people who want to edit an image should use a built application from PhotoCraft v0.10.0 official release ↗. Choose the operating system and architecture first, and compare the checksum.

The source archive is not the desktop installer. Builds, CLI distributions and the web archive are distinct assets.

Where are the MCP and build docs?

Version 0.10.0 development documentation ↗ describes the CLI, local automation and MCP modes. Read the documentation at the same tag as your installed build; the default branch may describe newer code.

Headless MCP gives an in-process editor explicit read/write roots. The desktop bridge connects to a separately running editor and uses that process’s permissions. Our MCP guide separates the two.

What does open source cover?

The shipped web release includes MIT and Apache-2.0 license texts. Preserve the license notices when redistributing it. Code licensing does not automatically license every user’s image, installed font, trademark or model output.

This site hosts the unchanged upstream engine and keeps its license files available: MIT and Apache-2.0. Open-source editor access is separate from this site’s paid AI credits. See the ArtCraft relationship guide for product names and the Photoshop comparison for workflow limitations.

Frequently asked questions

Which repository is this guide about?

The Storytold namespace, storytold/photocraft, linked by the official ArtCraft PhotoCraft product page.

Is a source ZIP an installer?

No. Use a release asset for your operating system and CPU when you want a ready-to-run editor.

Does PhotoCraft.club maintain the repository?

No. This site publishes independent guides, a hosted demo and a separate paid cloud generation service.

Can I rely on a fork with the same name?

A matching name does not establish publisher identity. Check the repository owner and its relationship to the official product page.

Where should I check license terms?

Read the license files at the version you use and preserve applicable notices. Code licenses do not grant rights to unrelated images, fonts or trademarks.
